Education
I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a Literacy Minor. I also have my Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Northern Iowa.
Experience
My Literacy minor required me to tutor an elementary student for 10 weeks in remedial reading. I worked with the student 1 hour per day on various reading strategies. With my special education minor, I had to teach 2 phase programs for students who struggled in reading and math. I worked with the groups of students for 3 hours per week in the 8 week phase programs.Currently, I am an elementary special education teacher and I work with students in the areas of reading, math, and writing. I have a great deal of experience working with students who struggle in reading, writing, and math. I have worked with students on all different levels and have gained strategies and experience on how to best help students improve within these areas.
